Designed to complement current recycling efforts, the Hefty ReNew™ program, formerly the Hefty® EnergyBag® Program, provides a simple solution for hard-to-recycle plastics that would otherwise be thrown away. Through this initiative, challenging plastics like foam takeout containers, plastic cutlery, frozen fruit bags, and shredded cheese packaging can be collected at curbside and converted into valued resources.
From Candy Wrapper To Valuable Resource
Just like plastics that qualify for curbside recycling, hard-to-recycle plastics hold value. They can be used as energy resources, including as an alternative fuel source for manufacturing cement, which in turn reduces the need for natural resources like coal.
Hard-to-recycle plastics also can be ground into smaller pieces to make strong plastic products such as railroad ties, composite decking, park benches and Adirondack chairs.
